About Me

My photo
I have been digiscoping for around 18 years now and through persistence and good equipment I am getting great results. I use a Swarovski 80hd spotting scope and a Sony RX100 camera which has just replaced my old faithful Nikon P5100. The majority of my bird watching takes place in County Durham in England which has a variety of different habitats from coast to moors. Digiscoping is great because it allows me to get good photos without disturbing birds. VIEW THE LATEST PHOTOBOOK AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE

Pied Flycatchers - Low Barns

After a brief visit to Bollihope and a view of a distant Ring Ouzel, I came back down to Low Barns to escape the gales blowing.  The 2 Pied Flycatchers were singing and showing really well, although there were no signs of a previously reported Redstart.
I also spent a while showing 2 different people the equipment I use for digiscoping, which was also very rewarding.
I particularly like the first shot of the Pied Flycatcher singing straight at the camera, although it looks close it was probably 25 yards away.
