Went over to Teesside area today - first time in a while. Specifically to see the Avocets, and possibly the Common Cranes that were reported yesterday.
The are over 30 Avocets this year and are increasing year on year. The bus stop pool provided the best views and I watched a pair displaying and obviously preparing to mate as the female was making herself available while the male was playing coy.
He gave in eventually! I tried to video the mating but my patience ran out just before the act. Got some photos of it though.
Then onto Saltholme - there was no sign of the Common Cranes while I was there and I left about 1 oclock - and they turned up about 2 oclock - typical
